Hello! Thank you for having me and my character Baker McGovern on your blog today. Now Baker isn’t actually in Secrets, my book that is in Love Potion No. 11, but he is in the second book in that series so I think it is okay to talk to him. Just to give anyone who hasn’t read my books, Baker is a shifter. A shifter can turn into any living being they choose to. Baker talks a little funny because he really never got over the roaring 20’s. He has worked for mobsters and jinn, but deep down, he has a heart of gold.

Baker: Aw. Thanks for the intro, doll. What’s shakin’?

Liz: Not much. I’m working on an Easy Bake Coven short story.

Baker: Those witches are the cat’s meow. Wonder if I’ll get to see them again. *raises an eyebrow at me*

Liz: We’ll see, we’ll see. But we’re not here to talk about them. The people want to know about Olivia and Holden.

Baker: Is that right. What do they wanna know? The boss-man is fairly private, you know.

Liz: I will be our little secret.

Baker: *grins* Because secrets always turn out so well…

Liz: Well you know, we life dangerously.

Baker: *laughs* Speak for yourself. I’ve had all the danger and drama I need for at least another 100 years. You must think I’m a palooka.

Liz: We’ve gotten off track again.

Baker: Maybe you should ask me a question, but what do I know. I’m not the author.

Liz: Fine. Holden is a lot of things, but friendly, or even nice, isn’t one of them. What made you befriend him?

Baker: Well, I’ve never minded getting my hands a bit dirty and when you run with people Quintus would say have “questionable moral value” you get to know a lot more about what is really happening in the Abyss. And information isn’t only power, it keeps you ahead of the curve.
However, right from the start I saw something in him. I mean he definitely didn’t seem like piker. When you have lived as long as I have to begin to recognize certain characteristics right off the cuff and even though he has his flaws, he’s got honor. And once I met his girl, I knew I was right about him. She’s sassy and sweet and a downright angel. I wouldn’t mind having a dame like that.

Liz: Really? I sort of see you as wanting someone who has a bit more…mmm curiosity.

Baker: *smiles*

Liz: Okay this is supposed to be a short interview so one last question. What makes Olivia and Holden perfect for each other?

Baker: That’s an easy one. They balance each other. I mean they are alike in a lot of ways. They both like to skirt around the edges and watch people more than engage them, but at the same time, Olivia cares a lot about others—sometimes too much. Because of that she has helped Holden care more about people too. But on the flip side he helps her from losing herself in other people’s happiness. She also brings him out of his shell. Holden is by no means shy, but who he really is, is buried deep. He, in return, has given her the confidence to do amazing things. Together they can defeat almost any odds, and maybe even change the world as we know it. I would almost say they’re a match made in Heaven. *wink*

Liz: Thanks for the chat, Baker.

Baker: Anytime, doll. Say hi to the witches for me.

Thank you for hosting us today. Don’t forget to pick up Love Potion No. 11 where you can read Secrets with Olivia and Holden and 10 other fantastic paranormal novels for only .99!

Many authors claim to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn’t always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, lizauthorpicthen she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more.

When Liz isn’t writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between.
