Have you ever been dumped and known that person was wrong? You dream and plan out the day that they wake up and realize they made a huge mistake. Have you ever been the one to break someones heart? Wishing you could go back in time and stop yourself or at least be given the chance to apologize and get back the relationship you know you ruined.
When I first started Speak Now I was afraid that Bridgette would never recover from Adam’s rejection. I mean who really be able too? You show up expecting a proposal, the man of your dreams brings out your favorite food from your favorite restaurant only to tell you it’s just not working but he hopes you can still be friends. As Bridgette tries to look back at the possible signs she could have missed she tries to plot a way to make Adam realize what a horrible mistake he made. Only to run into the one that got away… Ian. Along the way a bunch of crazy unexpected things start to unfold, including a disastrous dinner party with Adam’s family were in a whirlwind Adam proposes to his short-term girlfriend in front of his family and Bridgette.
This is a true story for those girls who always seem to go for the bad boys and regret the good guy they let slip through their hands. Speak Now is filled with characters you can relate too, everyday people with everyday problems. There were moments I felt like Becky Monson reached into my head and pulled out memories and then the planned out vision that would unfold. I found myself rooting for Bridgette, hoping she would see the errors she made and I so desperately wanted everything to work out for her in the end. Speak Now was a romantic comedy kind of book for me that kept me guessing right up to the end.
If there’s one thing that Bridgette Reynolds has learned recently, it’s that the perfect shoes, the perfect hair, and the perfect dress do not make for the perfect proposal. In fact, sometimes they make for the not-so-perfect breakup.
Now, Bridgette must do everything in her power to win Adam back. She knows they are meant to be. And nothing will stand in her way—not her friends, not her grandmother, not even the fact that Adam is now engaged to Serene after a whirlwind romance.
Focused on her plan to win Adam back, Bridgette isn’t expecting Ian—her college best friend, her love, her big regret—to come back into her life. They sink back into their comfortable friendship as if no time has passed at all, making Bridgette start to question her feelings for Adam. But Ian has a few secrets of his own . . . secrets that could shatter their friendship once and for all.
Bridgette has to make some major decisions—should she speak now? Or forever hold her peace?
